Our Story.
The Gypsy's Lunchbox was founded in November 2014 by Adrian and Jessica Lal; AKA the chef and the barista. Adrian and Jess first met in Bali in 2012 . Since then the pair have been on a journey through the culinary world, bonded by their passion for the finer things in life; good food, wine and coffee.
That journey has taken them through Europe, Asia and most notably food-wise - the US, Mexico and the Caribbean. Now living in Torquay with their two small children and bulldog, Lily they enjoy life's simpler pleasures.
From their love of food and Jess' family's background in the meat industry grew their first venture together: a mobile food and coffee trailer culminating some of the best produce country Victoria has to offer. In 2017 a brand new custom-built truck was added to the fleet and in 2020 another.
Although Adrian's outstanding skills mean they are able to cater for just about anything, they offer mainly American-influenced gourmet BBQ style fare - think pulled meats, sliders, burgers and Southern-fried chicken. The majority of the meat used comes from the family's properties ensuring a true paddock-to-plate experience.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic when all events were cancelled Adrian and Jess adapted their business to include an online ordering and home delivery service for residents of Torquay which is still operating today. One of the trucks is now based at Bells Beach Brewing and operates Thursday - Sunday.
In addition to the American-inspired fare, the Gypsy's Lunchbox also have a range of catering options - an extensive canapes list as well as corporate catering options such as gourmet sandwiches and salads.
You will find us getting around to many markets and events throughout country Victoria but we also love catering for private functions - whatever you are after we will almost definitely be equipped to help you out.
